OVERVIEW
Heritage is a point and click adventure game. The player controls Anastasia, a member of the royal family of a galactic empire, trying to find the imperial crown to get the throne for herself. This game was made in seven days for the Become Better at Something gem jam.
GAME DESIGN
In Heritage, the player can go from room to room of the imperial palace, talk to members of the royal family and discover clues to find the crown and become Empress. We wanted the player to have access to a lot of rooms from the start that he would enjoy exploring, filled with characters he would find funny. We designed our game around the pleasure the player can feel when he learns things about an interesting world and setting. To that end, we created a non-linear story-line, centered around three main quests. To win, the player must finish each quest, but he can do them in any order he desires. We also created a dialogue which, if triggered, changes slightly
